👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 About the Smith Family

At the heart of Smith Acres Homestead is a hardworking, service-driven family: Dan and Lindsay Smith, proud parents to Mackenzie, Abigail, Alexandra, and Chase. Their journey is rooted in faith, family, and a shared mission to serve their community through agriculture and education.

🇺🇸 A Life of Service

Dan has dedicated his life to serving our country — first with 8 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, followed by over 16 years as an officer in the U.S. Army, marking more than 24 years of military service (and counting). Lindsay spent 23 years in the hospitality industry, building her career with heart and resilience until a sudden stroke brought her path to a halt — and gave her the clarity to pursue what truly matters.

That life-changing moment led to a powerful pivot: a family vision to build a space that would support Veterans, First Responders, and local families through hands-on connection with the land.

🌾 How It Started

In 2018, the Smiths began planning their dream: to purchase a small farm that would become a place of purpose, healing, and education. What started as community movie nights with Lee County First Responders has blossomed into a thriving homestead, education hub, and agritourism destination.

🐄 How It’s Growing

Today, Smith Acres Homestead is home to:

• Dairy cows, goats, pigs, chickens, horses, turkeys, and more
• A working farmstead where food is grown and raised for the Smiths and the surrounding community
• A trusted educational destination offering homeschool programs, animal science classes, and seasonal farm camps
• A warm, welcoming space where children, families, Veterans, and First Responders are always honored and included

• Help families unplug and reconnect with nature
• Provide healing and rest to those who serve
